Our Instructors

 

Our instructors are some of the best martial artists in the valley.  Each are certified A.K.K.I. black belts with more than 20 years of teaching experience.  They teach practical self-defense through the foundation of American Kenpo Karate in a fun and safe learning environment.

 

Mr Chad Van Orden
2nd Degree Black Belt

 

Mr. Chad Van Orden is originally from Idaho Falls, Idaho. In 2005 Mr. Van Orden and his family moved to the Boise area.  Mr. Van Orden has a lovely wife and two amazing daughters.

 

While residing in Idaho Falls, he trained under Mr. Derek Ence, a 7th degree black belt with the A.K.K.I.  In 2003 he received his 1st degree black belt in front of Mr. Paul Mills and the international testing board in Las Vegas, NV and again in 2009 for his 2nd degree black belt.  

 

Mr. Van Orden is currently part owner and instructor at American Kenpo Karate of Idaho where he enjoys teaching both adults and youth classes. 

Mr Richard Davis
1st Degree Black Belt

 

Mr. Richard Davis is from Boise, Idaho and has always resided in the treasure valley.  Married since 2004 to an amazing women with two wonderful daughters.

 

Mr Davis began his martial arts training in 1994 and cross trained in two styles.   He took instruction in Aikido under Mr. Robert Krone for two years.  During the same time he also studied American Kenpo under Mr. Jesse Miller, a 1st degree black belt with the I.K.K.A.  When Mr. Miller stopped instructing students Mr. Davis was introduced to Mr. James Clark with the A.K.K.I.

 

In 1998 Mr. Davis began assisting Mr. Clark with teaching classes at the West Family YMCA in Boise.  Mr. Davis continued his training under the direction of Mr. James Clark, 1st degree black belt in Boise, ID and Mr. Jim Clark, 7th degree black belt in Plain City, UT.  Mr. Davis obtained his 1st degree black belt in 2003 in front of Mr. Paul Mills and the A.K.K.I. international testing board in Las Vegas, NV.

 

Mr. Davis is part owner and instructor at American Kenpo Karate of Idaho where he puruses his passion of teaching street self-defense to all ages.
